Short Story

Walking along the foot path and it is almost summer, at the epicenter, sitting at the window of the train my eyes have plodded through the pine trees running faster and disappearing behind us.

Whizzing therein slowly halted at the old station. The white fur of the early morning mist still on the grass blades. Somewhere far at the corner of the sky arriving a little ray of Reddish sun. The tuck tuck noise of the boots of boarding and deboarding passenger filled the atmosphere and slowly died down.

" Is there anyone occupied this seat?" A melodious voice.

I turned my face , a comely woman, wearing a hat tilted to her left shoulder, holding a thick basket in her left hand. Her elegance attracted me. And, I felt, her blue eyes has a story to tell

"No" I said. .oh! None.

Moving my hand bag away from the corner i said.. giving her space to sit.

"it's my luck, I could catch this train, " she said While dropping her basket on the floor of the train she said, landing on the seat. " What happened?"

My curiosity turned a high tide. " Oh! the journey, was tough, the road…" sha paused

" what's on the road?" I am curious again

"So many Cops, they remain behind the blockade and checking everyone" she added "

That's strange" I added " unwarranted " Turning to her, then her, taking my eyes from the disappearing pine trees.

For the first time I saw her eyes, they were wetty, reddish..

" You look cried" I said

"Oh! It rains on and off in life, wiping her eyes with while hand kerchief, she said inviting a smile in her full moon like face.

" Sorrow has no boundaries, it's an un-invited guest in everyone's life, " I added "But, when it nest in your heart lifetime, …" she paused, biting hand kerchief to control her swelling heart.

" Who knows the next sun rise won't bring you sine happiness! " I encouraged her ",Happiness never blossom in some people's life" she said turning away her swelkibg face welled up eyes. A few moments she didn't turned back.

" See, all of us have got our own share of darkness in life" I invited smile .. She did as well…

"A share doesn't count as life time" she lamented and her face was struggling to hide the cloud in her heart, I felt

" Both of us might have got the same destiny " I encouraged her to talk This time she turned, Her reddish face resembled the western horizon hosting the sun set.

",What us your story," she asked me

" Loss, someone adored in life time, once you lost, the deep wound will refuse to heal, it keeps bleeding" I said, then taken a Cuban cigar a lit, " the loss is deeper, and priceless "

...her face hosted a little well lit smile, as if the moon re-appears after passing through a piece of cloud.

Her tears filled face looked more beautiful.

" Who knows two wounded heart won't nest in each other's heart one day!" I added " .

And heal the wounds refused to heal " she added

This time tears was in my eyes.

"Do you travel frequently? " she asked me, straightening her hat

" My life is a,strange journey, " I told her, then paused looking at the disappearing pine trees again.

"Why don't you find a companion,?," she asked me, smiling.

"You have to answer this question first" I dropped the cigar out through the window, and said

",Yes, I will" she replied, " if I find someone"

After a couple of years, she had answered my question In a courtroom when we shared wedding rings .
